About:

Angela Fiorita-DayThe therapy process is a unique experience for every individual, and I customize each plan of treatment accordingly, often blending multiple styles and techniques to address each client’s needs. The focus of my work is to empower clients, by facilitating hope, healing, and insight, providing guidance and encouragement as they develop more introspective and compassionate relationships with their self and with others. Although empathy and compassion are key elements of my practice, I will also acknowledge and appropriately challenge fixed beliefs or behaviors that are misaligned with a client’s goals. As the therapist/client relationship evolves, I may also introduce humor during sessions in various contexts when appropriate, which I have found to be a commonly underutilized, yet profoundly effective therapeutic intervention. My style of interacting would be best described as warm and accepting, yet honest and realistic. And I genuinely hold a deep respect for all cultures and maintain an open-minded and non-judgmental stance in therapy.

My professional background includes extensive academic training and several years of experience with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT, DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy—specifically incorporating Positive Psychology and Mindfulness-based approaches, and Expressive Arts Therapy. I have been employed in many different types of mental health care settings in both CA and KY, which has provided a wide range of clinical populations and experiences. Though my training and experience has allowed me to gain familiarity in working with many types of clinical presentations and individual concerns, I have gained specific expertise in areas such as: coping with anxiety, relationship difficulties, family conflicts, career stress/burn-out, school problems, addiction, divorce and romantic attachments, trauma, abuse, and coping with losses, including grief and bereavement.
