About:

Ann ReevesWith over 30 years of experience in hospitals, schools, and private practice, I offer healing, hope, and practical strategies for dealing with life as it is now, for you. My strength is in individualizing treatment to suit your needs, and I value the importance of establishing a positive, trusting relationship. The recent pandemic has thrown us into new psychological territory that reaches every aspect of our lives, requiring us to stretch in ways previously unimagined. Apart from loved ones and friends, loss of income, home schooling and working, buying groceries online, worry about family members, anxiety, anger, frustration, depression, it has also given us opportunities to grow and serve in surprising ways. Whether in my office, or through tele-therapy, I provide a warm and comfortable environment, using my experience, insight, and intuition. Trained in psychodynamic psychology, I blend traditional psychotherapy with alternative techniques, with training in Mindfulness-Based Stress reduction and meditation, sand-tray therapy, EMDR, hypnotherapy, and positive psychology. I am a long-time Qi Gong practitioner. My experience as a hospital chaplain has helped me understand the place spirituality plays in our lives. Neuropsychology gives us insights into how the brain works and how we can reduce stress and distress, and I apply these as they develop. Positive psychology is a science that studies how individuals thrive. Rather than focus on what’s wrong it focuses on what’s right, teaching strategies that promote human flourishing. We all have the innate potential for growth, self--acceptance, and transformation. At this time we need to discover and harness the inner strength and resources we need to sustain ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually as we meet the challenges of COVID-19 and the changing landscapes of our lives.
