Charissa Pizarro
Beginning therapy can be a daunting task whether it is your first time in therapy or not. As a prospective therapist, I offer you, a safe, judgement free space where we can collaboratively work on your goals. I have 15+ years of experience working with individuals across the life span (ages 4 to older adults). I have experience treating adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety and a wide variety of emotional challenges. I can help you be proactive with everyday stressors or treat a history of trauma among the vast pool of presenting complaints. I also conduct psychological evaluations including Bariatric surgery evaluations and immigration evaluations. My experience is complemented by a bilingual proficiency in English-Spanish. My educational background: I obtained my Bachelors Degree from Seton Hall University, my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and finally my Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University.
My Master's Thesis was on Childhood sexual abuse. Similarly, my doctorate internship was with childhood sexual abuse victims. Some of my doctorate work was with survivors of dictatorship and survivors of other traumas. I continued to work with survivors of trauma throughout my career.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or to schedule an appointment.
