About:

Christina MooreIn the Kosovar refugee crisis in 1999, Dr. Moore served as the mental health officer for Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders in Kukes, Albania. Subsequently she was the UN World Health Organization Mental Health Coordinator in Tirana, Albania, working with extremely vulnerable individuals remaining in Albania following the crisis, and coordinating the plan for the transition of national mental health services to a community based model. Beginning in 2001, she was the mental health consultant to the International Organization for Migration Return and Reintegration Project, based in Bangkok, Thailand, for trafficking victims in the sub-Mekong region. She worked in IOM’s counter-trafficking project in Yemen, and as part of the emergency response to the Indian Ocean tsunami in Sri Lanka. She completed an assignment in the Occupied Palestinian Territory with UNICEF on the psychological support of children from birth to age five.
Through the Human Rights Clinic of HealthRight International she has evaluated torture victims who are seeking political asylum in the United States, and has provided court testimony in immigration court hearings. She continues to work in the Peer Support Network of Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders as a contact for humanitarian assistance workers returning from field assignments.
She was a 2007-2008 APA/AAAS Congressional Fellow in Washington, DC, concentrating on legislation and public policy on mental health, genomics and personalized medicine.
She has field experience in Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Palestinian Territories, Sri Lanka, Yemen. She has provided MSF Peer Support Network training in New York, San Diego, Denver, Portland OR, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Mexico City, Tokyo, Sydney.
