About:

Daniel HoffmanI am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist, board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology. I specialize in providing short-term, evidence based psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, sexual problems and related issues in adults, as well as disruptive behavior and school refusal in children and adolescents.

I received my PhD in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University under the mentorship of Mitchell L. Schare, PhD, ABPP. At Hofstra University, I was the Clinic Coordinator for the Phobia and Trauma Clinic (formerly the Virtual Reality Clinic). While studying for my doctorate, I completed two internships, one in clinical psychology at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY, and another in school psychology in the Fort Lee, NJ School District Child Study Team. During my school internship, I had the opportunity to conduct assessments and counsel children from kindergarten through high school. Throughout my clinical internship, I worked as a diagnostician in the emergency room, and conducted individual and group therapies for people admitted to the psychiatric hospital.

I was completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University's Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD) under the supervision of Anne Marie Albano, PhD, ACT, ABPP. I gained extensive experience using CBT with children and adults. During my fellowship, I worked for the New York Office of Mental Health’s Evidence Based Treatment Dissemination Center (EBTDC) to consult with 200+ clinicians learning to conduct parenting skill enhancement and treat ADHD and ODD.

My research on anxiety, high-tech interventions such as virtual reality exposure therapy, reducing harmful behaviors, and phonological issues in reading have been presented at local, regional, national, and international conferences. I keep current with research by reading mental health journals. I am also a reviewer for journals including The British Journal of Psychiatry and New Media & Socie
