I am the second of four sons, and I grew up in Minnesota. I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California in 1991, and my B.A. in psychology from Columbia University in 1985. I have been married to my wife, Rebecca, since 1990, and we have lived in Woodinville, a suburb northeast of Seattle, since 1998. Rebecca works for the Washington Education Association. We have four cats, Cricket, Skyler, Ruby, and Theo. In my free time, I enjoy exploring a wide range of music and podcasts, reading, researching history, philosophy, politics, and current events, playing chess, collecting old books, maps, stamps, and ephemera, and exploring the wonders of Western Washington.
