Deborah Okon
After moving to New Mexico for my pre-doctoral internship (at the Albuquerque VAMC, Acoma-Laguna-Canoncito, and Heights Psychatric Hospital) and post-doctoral internship (Pueblo of Laguna), I opened my practice in Belen in 1997. For the first 15 years I also taught masters level therapists at University of Phoenix, and for 8 years I also worked for the Los Lunas School District special education department. Since 1998, I have focused on my practice while serving on the New Mexico Psychological Association Board, volunteering as the Federal Advocacy Coordinator for New Mexico.
I enjoy working with people of all ages including adults, teens, children, individuals, couples and families. I have a general practice to provide treatment for most any issue, though I have specialized in family based treatment for adolescents with eating disorders. As a milspouse, I gear much of my practice toward veterans and military families.
