Debra Dayton
Dr. Debra Dayton specializes in working with Children, Adolescents, Women and the LGBT community. She works with women on dealing with the stresses in their lives and establishing boundaries that help them cope with the pressures of work and family life.
Dr. Debra Friedman Dayton has been in practice since 1993 as a licensed psychologist. Her therapeutic orientation is Cognitive and Systemic. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland in 1981 and her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M; in 1984. She received her doctorate in the field of Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology / Alliant University. Her master’s thesis topic was Date Rape and her doctoral dissertation was on “Adult Siblings of the Mentally Handicapped.”
Dr. Dayton returned to school and received a second Masters degree in Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies from Texas Woman’s University in May 2014. This degree allows her to view the world from a multicultural lens, considering, issues of gender, culture, race and sexual orientation that impact her clients, as well as, the LGBT community.
Dr. Dayton has worked at Dallas Child Guidance Clinic, Scottish Rite Hospital, and Headstart. She was the Director of Psychological Services at Tarrant County Mental Health and Mental Retardation. She was the former Psychological Consultant for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) of Tarrant County. She has been in private practice since 1998. Her therapeutic orientation is Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Systemic therapy.
