I worked for many years in critical care nursing as an RN, as well as work in general medical-surgical nursing, renal transplantation, and oncology. I certified as an Adult Acute Care NP, and became a college professor, with a joint appointment in Nursing and Allied Health, with a speciality in research. I then earned a master of arts in Marriage & Family Therapy, followed immediately by a PhD in Behavioral and Clinical Psychology, though the degree was changed in title and awarded as Educational psychology. Finally, I earned a post masters certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, allowing me to gain certification as a nurse practitioner in psych nursing. Since 2000, I've been practicing both as a psychologist and nurse practitioner, doing therapy, psycho-educational testing, and medication prescription and management. In recent years, I have stopped testing, but am available to evaluate previous testing done, and make appropriate recommendations. My BS in nursing was earned cum laude, my MSN magna cum laude, and my MA and PhD summa cum laude. I am a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing scholarly honor society, and was a Mortar Board, which is one of the top 35 senior women at Michigan State University as an undergraduate student. I greatly enjoy public speaking, and have done so with regard to many topic and to varied audiences. I pride myself on listening empathically, and responding with a variety of very creative predominantly cognitive behavioral interventions. Medication management is the primary role that I have taken on in recent years.
