Ellen Dye
I have been in private practice in Maryland for more than thirty years and work with clients of all ages. I provide individual therapy for children, adolescents and adults, including parent therapy and play therapy for children. I am also a marriage and family therapist and work with families of all types, including adult families and polyamorous relationships. I have a great deal of experience working with families dealing with divorce, including problematic divorce and parental alienation.
I began my career working with trauma, especially sexual trauma, and I have continued to train in this area as new treatments have emerged, such as EMDR. I am well-trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy but have also added specializations in Cognitive-Behavior therapy, Family Therapy, and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. One of my earliest specializations was adult and child ADHD, learning disabilities, and autism, including psychological testing and school consultation, and I continue to enjoy working with these clients. Over the past ten years, I have developed a new specialization in LGBTQ+ clients of all ages.
Since I have advanced training in many forms of psychotherapy, I do not use the same treatment approach for all clients. Instead, I individually tailor treatment to a specific client's needs. This allows me to help many individuals who have not met with success in previous treatment with a "one size fits all" modality. Many of my clients are emotionally complex or have serious mental illness in addition to requiring medication and having family or relationship problems. Much of my work is also with anxious and stressed individuals having problems with daily living. These individuals also benefit from a combination of treatment approaches.
Although my services are reimbursable through out of network benefits, I do not participate directly with any insurance companies. I negotiate payment arrangements individually with each client.
