About:

Emily MacDougallI believe that all individuals have the ability to create optimistic futures, and that mental wellness is achieved with the help of meaningful relationships, engagement, and positive coping skills. My clients describe me as energetic, genuine, warm, and empathic. I strive to create a safe environment with open communication and respect. Therapy should start from a place of accepting you (or your child) where you are and also maintain a focus on achieving personal growth and change.

In my work with children, adolescents, and young adults I typically work best with issues related to mood (e.g., depression and/ or anxiety), behavior (e.g., ADHD, temper tantrums, etc.), trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties. My personal style is highly collaborative. I believe that parents should be actively involved in the therapeutic process with children and adolescents. My approach to therapy is rooted in evidence-based practices (including: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy). I understand that it’s important to see real results and I tailor these research-supported treatments to meet your personal needs and goals.
