My goal is to work together with each client to help them find a sense of hope, to learn new patterns of behavior, and to feel empowered by their new skills. I obtained my Masters in Counseling Psychology and PhD in Clinical Psychology from UCSB. I am also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst - Doctoral (BCBA-D). I specialize in children, adolescents, and families, and have extensive experience working with individuals with autism, ADHD, and other behavior challenges. In recent years, we have seen an increase in depression and anxiety in children and adolescents, along with a staggering rise in autism diagnoses. Both autism and ADHD are at risk for co-morbid mental health issues or challenges with learning. All of these factors place additional stress on the already difficult job of parenting. I believe it is critical to begin early in teaching our children (and parents) healthy ways of thinking, handling difficult emotions, and resolving conflict. Healthy habits can become ingrained just like bad habits! My background in counseling and clinical psychology, along with my years of direct experience working with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other behavior challenges places me in the unique position to help you through this process. I provide diagnostic evaluations, therapy, and parent coaching and incorporate psychoeducational, cognitive-behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches into my practice. I believe we can all learn new ways to think differently about how we are thinking and feeling, learn to be more present and focused, and behave in ways that lead to healthier, fuller, and more satisfying lives.
