About:

Dr. I. Bruce Frumkin is board-certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is a nationally-recognized expert in the area of competency to waive Miranda rights, psychological vulnerabilities related to false or coerced confessions, and interrogations in the criminal context.. He has conducted more than 700 disputed confession-related evaluations and has testified in court approximately 200 times on these issues. He has authored and co-authored a number of publications pertaining to rights’ waivers and confessions. He has published research examining large forensic samples of defendants undergoing confession-related evaluations in the United States and comparing those results to data sets from the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scale and the Instruments for Understanding and Appreciating Miranda Rights.
Dr. Frumkin earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. He is the Director of Forensic and Clinical Psychology Associates, P.A., with offices in Miami, Philadelphia, New York City, and Chicago. He has served on the Florida Evaluator Training Project, helped develop the forensic program at South Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (a state-forensic hospital), and has presented at a number of regional, national and international conferences to psychology and legal communities. He has held a number of positions including President to the Florida Psychological Association, Council member to the American Psychological Association, Forensic Psychology Chair and Member at Large for Division 42, Division 41 Liaison to APA’s Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice (CAPP), Commissioner for the Commission for the Recognition of Specialities and Proficiencies in Professional Practice (CRSPPP), and Member of APA’s Committee on Professional Practice and Standards (COPPS).
