About:

Jared KilmerOne of my strongest values is to be able to speak candidly with others, to see and be seen. In a context of trust, where both parties are free of fear of the other’s reaction, genuine communication is a powerful and aligning force. As we work together to meet your goals, you can expect my compassion, flexibility, and commitment. Given my training and experience in the counseling field, I will facilitate evidence-based treatments and intentionally integrate approaches from various modalities to meet your needs. When working with children and adolescents, I will strive to meet your family’s specific therapy goals at the developmental level of each child.

I am personally and professionally familiar with geek and gaming culture and am competent to incorporate it into our therapy when appropriate. If you identify as a part of gaming, tech, or geek culture, I would be excited to bring those pieces of your life and passion into our therapy sessions to better connect our discussions with you. I hold an important value in my approach to life: that games provide a context for play, which encourages and rewards exploration, ultimately promoting creativity, learning, and wellness.

My prevailing therapeutic orientation is cognitive-behavioral, integrated with other orientations that include elements of mindfulness, values-based, and strengths-based approaches. Additionally, I ascribe closely to the importance of common factors, such as authenticity, positive regard, and a strong working alliance between my clients and myself. I strive to select the most auspicious treatment protocol for my clients, flexibly integrating diverse interventions to accommodate my clients’ needs.

I strive to maintain consistent transparency in our work together in order to create a collaborative environment that enables the free exchange of thoughts and feelings. I invite you to reach out to me to learn more and ensure that we're a good fit.
