Jason Steadman
Dr. Jason Steadman graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Evansville, in Evansville, IN. He then graduated with his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in 2014 from Baylor University, in Waco, TX. While at Baylor, Dr. Steadman specialized in play therapy, trauma, and anxiety disorders in children and youth, studying under Dr. Helen Benedict, a nationally recognized scholar in the field of play therapy. Dr. Steadman completed his predoctoral clinical internship at The Village for Families & Children in Hartford, CT, where he continued to work closely with children ages 3 to 19 suffering from a wide range of mental illnesses. There, he also received specialized training in trauma-focused cognitive-behavior therapy (TF-CBT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and other evidence-based treatments for childhood psychiatric disorders. Following internship, Dr. Steadman completed a postdoctoral fellowship in community health and integrated primary care at Community Health Center, Inc. (CHCI), based in Middletown Connecticut. After fellowship. Dr. Steadman became an assistant professor of psychology at East Tennessee State University, where he taught undergraduate and Ph.D. clinical students in an APA-accredited doctoral program with a mission/focus in Primary Care Psychology. Dr. Steadman achieved board certification in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in July 2019.
Currently, Dr. Steadman is in full-time clinical practice at Chattanooga Peds, where he works in integrated primary care in a thriving Pediatric practice. Dr. Steadman has published peer reviewed articles on his own approach to play therapy, called Fantasy Exposure Life Narrative Therapy. He also conducts research and publishes articles on child development of the Self, on videogames and psychotherapy, and on best practices in primary care.
