About:

Karen Cone-UemuraPrior to becoming a psychologist, I was a registered dietitian for 20 years. As such, I take a holistic approach to wellness, incorporating lifestyle and environmental factors into the mindfulness-based psychotherapy I provide.
My therapeutic style combines lived experience with years of academic study and the expertise that arises from providing services to a variety of populations. I have experience working with all ages, utilizing different modalities such as sand tray, movement, drama, and art. I provide talk therapy as well! I work with a range of ages, from preschool children to older adults who do not have dementia.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I provide psychotherapy to workers who have been injured on the job, helping them heal from the psychological trauma that often accompanies their physical injuries. Other populations I serve include people who belong to marginalized groups (i.e, people of color, people who have ability levels different from society’s norm, LBGTQ, etc.), and veterans. Areas of interest and expertise include ADHD, grief/loss/mourning, trauma, living with chronic mental and/or physical illness, adjustment issues and multicultural concerns. I will eventually offer group psychotherapy, but for now I provide individual, couples and family therapy on a private pay basis.
