Kathrin HartmannKathrin Hartmann, Ph.D., RPT-S, is professor emerita after 20 years on the faculty of Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Hartmann came to the United States with a Masters degree in psychology from the University of Bonn in Germany. She obtained her doctorate degree in clinical psychology at the Palo Alto University (formerly Pacific Graduate School of Psychology) in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Hartmann completed her psychology internship at EVMS in 1994, and then worked for 4 years at the Child Abuse Center of Hampton Roads from 1995 to 1998. She joined the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at EVMS in 1999. Her position at EVMS included teaching courses and seminars for psychiatry residents, psychology interns, medical students, and graduate psychology students. She co-directed the Autism Spectrum Disorder Program at EVMS between 2010 and 2019, conducting numerous evaluations of autistic individuals. Dr. Hartmann completed her in depth analytical training in 2019 and is a certified Diplomate Jungian Analyst. She is a member of the International Association of Analytical Psychology and the InterRegional Society of Jungian Analysts. She trained in play therapy and earned the Registered Play Therapist and Supervisor certificate since 2004. Dr. Hartmann has presented locally and nationally, including at the annual international conferences of the Association for Play Therapy, the National Association of School Psychologists, the International Meeting for Autism Research, and the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists. She recently opened her private practice in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and provides outpatient services to all ages.
