Katie Gorham
I am a Clinical Psychologist with experience working as a School Psychologist in various public school settings. I specialize in clinical therapy for children and adolescents experiencing excessive worries or fears, feelings of sadness, worthlessness and low self-esteem, and difficulty with peer and family relationships. It is my goal to help children discover their worth and develop the confidence and tools they need to work through any obstacles they may be facing in life, from the development of their own identity, to navigating complicated school or family dynamics, to the influence of social media, and beyond.
I take a strengths-based approach to therapy and utilize a variety of different methods including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness techniques, relaxation training, and art and play therapy. I incorporate parents in the therapeutic process to deepen the relationships they have already built with their children.
I also help parents and educators better understand a child’s struggles by conducting psychoeducational evaluations. These evaluations offer insight into why a child might be experiencing emotional, behavioral and/or academic distress and highlight supports the child may need for learning, relationship building and pro-social behavioral functioning.
