Linda Sadler
Introduction: I practice in Hastings on Hudson, New York, providing psychotherapy to children, teens and adults. I help younger children with school/learning problems, mood, anxiety and social difficulties. I often help adolescents and young adults grapple with personal challenges and anxiety or depression, which can make it difficult to move forward at a time when there are so many important choices to make, such as choosing a college, a career path, a relationship, or making other complex decisions, while also trying to become independent of their parents. I enjoy working with parents to help their children separate and become self-sufficient, and to build and maintain close and healthy family relationships. Experience: I have over 20 years of experience working in public and independent schools and in private practice. I see first-hand the social and academic pressures and the high expectations that children and adolescents face in school. I can help them build the resilience to be successful despite experiencing hardship, disappointment or failure. Background: I received a B. S. degree from Boston University where I studied communication. I hold a Doctoral degree in psychology (Psy.D.) and a M.S.Ed. from Pace University. I trained in schools in NYC and in Westchester County. My externship was at Mount Sinai Hospital conducting psychotherapy and neuropsychological evaluations in outpatient and inpatient settings. My intensive internship was completed at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in New York City providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, couples and families. I also was trained extensively in neuropsychological evaluation. I have completed further training and professional development in many areas, including:
anxiety in children and adolescents,
mindfulness stress reduction and meditation,
executive functioning,
attention deficit disorder,
mood disorders,
cognitive behavior therapy,
drug and alcohol abuse prevention,
crisis intervention.
