Marilou Shaughnessy
I am a clinical psychologist specializing in treatment for adolescents and adults coping with anxiety, depression, eating disorders and other health related issues. I also work with people coping with conditions such as chronic pain, weight management, sleep disorders, and concussions. I work collaboratively with clients using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and positive psychology to teach strategies that help individuals better understand why they react and feel certain ways, and to make changes.
I use a variety of techniques and approaches to incorporate relaxation, visualization, mindfulness training, and mind-body medicine to develop a unique approach for each person I work with. I enjoy working with college students, athletes, and those who struggle with alcohol.
I am certified in mind-body medicine by the Benson-Henry Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital. I am also certified in clinical hypnosis by the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. Past experience: Boston Children's Hospital Sports Medicine; Boston Children's Hospital Optimal Weight for Life; Newton Wellesley Eating Disorders.
