Michael Heaney
In my 30+ years of practice as a pediatric psychologist I have found that patients want to feel and do better as quickly as possible. I work closely with parents and children to help forge a positive emotional relationship while at the same time helping parents learn the skills to effectively manage their child’s behavior. This is often accomplished through Parent Child Interaction Therapy. When working with adolescents and young adults I encourage the use of active listening, problem solving, and cognitive behavioral methods to resolve problems. Sometimes psychological testing is necessary to better understand behavioral and learning problems in order to provide effective interventions. My training in both school psychology and clinical psychology equips me to provide highly competent assistance in this area. In addition, I can work with other resources such as physicians, schools, and day care centers to provide families with the most complete services possible. After all these years I feel lucky to still be so passionate about this work.
