Dr. Bowman received her Ph.D. in child clinical psychology from West Virginia University and attended a pre-doctoral internship training program in developmental disabilities and applied behavior analysis at the Kennedy Krieger Institute at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

Dr. Bowman served on the faculty at Duke University Medical Center in the departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics and was an Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, hiking, cooking,, international travel, and volunteering with retired racing greyhound rescue groups.
