Rebecca Gitenstein
I am passionate about caring for children, teens, and young adults, who have encountered difficulties in their developmental path and need additional supports to find their way. My approach is deeply rooted in a belief in the inherent resilience of children and their families and a desire to celebrate a child’s unique strengths, while accurately and thoughtfully addressing the areas where support is needed. I utilize neuropsychological assessment and feedback as an intensive intervention to uncover challenges, build on strengths, and help guide children and families out of their current impasse. I also offer long and short-term psychotherapy supplemented with parent/caregiver meetings to address the underlying blocks that interfere with a child’s functioning and distort a child’s sense of who they are in the world. All of my work, whether assessment or psychotherapy, is informed by my knowledge of child development, neurobiology, and the interplay between psychopathology and family dynamics as well as my 10 years of experience as an educator.
