About:

Rebekah TravisDr. Travis is a licensed psychologist, with specialized training in the assessment, evidence-based intervention, and ethical research of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Travis’s clinical interests include the following: early identification, assessment, and effective therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents, and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and developmental disorders; identifying and improving psychosocial barriers to mental health treatment; family behavioral therapy including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT); and treatment of trauma (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). As an adult sibling of an individual with autism, Dr. Travis is personally invested in increasing individual, family, community, and societal support and advocacy for all neurodiverse individuals.
Dr. Travis received her undergraduate degree in English and Psychology from Vanderbilt University, graduating with High Honors in Psychology. She then pursued her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky with a concentration in Mental Health. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology, with a concentration in Child and Family Clinical Psychology. Dr. Travis’s subsequent training includes a pre-doctoral internship at the Tulsa Center for Child Psychology followed by a postdoctoral research/clinical fellowship in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities at Vanderbilt Kennedy Center/Vanderbilt University Medical Center Department of Pediatrics, Division of Developmental Medicine. Most recently, Dr. Travis was a member of UT Southwestern as part of the Department of Psychiatry in the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, clinical psychologist with the Autism BrainNet international research project, author on several autism treatment research projects, and active supervisor of clinical psychology graduate students.
