Ronald Morgan
After more than 25 yeas as a psychologist in correctional facilities and 29 years in private practice I established the Murrieta Counseling Center in 2017 and I continue to see patients five days a week. My desire to help people with problems was triggered by my father, who was a minister. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. I subsequently obtained my Master of Arts Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
After working as a Correctional Counselor at the Community Treatment Center in Kansas City and a nineteen-month stint in the U.S. Army that included combat duty in Viet Nam I became a Caseworker at the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas. This experience inspired me to work with inmates in the Criminal Justice System and I decided to pursue further education to become a Psychologist.
I continued working in Corrections and in 1971 transferred to the Federal Youth Center in Englewood, Colorado where I served as a Senior Case Manager for approximately 80 incarcerated youths. In 1974 I was promoted to Unit Manage and assisted in opening the Federal Correctional Institution in Pleasanton, California. I subsequently completed a one year internship at the El Dorado County Community Mental Health facility in South Lake Tahoe. I completed a one year fellowship at Orange County Juvenile Court Evaluation and Guidance Unit and Orangewood Children's Home. While working as a Psychologist at Heman G. Stark Youth Training School in Chino I conducted a study on "Child Abuse and Subsequent Involvement in Violent vs. Non-violent Offenses". I have also served as a Criminal Justice Consultant for defense attorneys and provided Alternate Sentencing Reports for consideration by the courts. I served as Senior Psychologist, Supervisor for California Dept. of Corrections until 2013.
I started private practice in Corona in 1991. I opened Murrieta Counseling Ctr. in 2017
