Sarah Ordaz
I am a licensed clinical and developmental psychologist (PSY28826) with a passion for helping children, adolescents, and adults thrive. I offer neuropsychological/psychoeducational assessments and also psychotherapy. Given my diverse skills, I am uniquely positioned to help individuals who have learning differences and also experience anxiety or depression.
I believe it is essential to utilize research-based assessments and treatments that have also been tailored to the individual needs of my patients. I use collaborative approach so that you or your child can leverage existing strengths and reach your full potential. My goal is to develop a treatment plan that combines your expertise about yourself/your child, data from assessment tools, and my knowledge of the clinical research. When appropriate, I also engage teachers, psychiatrists, and pediatricians.
I bring to my practice over a decade of experience as a clinician and researcher. I was faculty in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford, where I researched: (1) the impact of life stress and parenting on neurodevelopment, (2) neurodevelopmental markers of depression and suicide, (3) brain function supporting the development of executive function. I have also worked at Pacific Anxiety Group and Morrissey-Compton Educational Center. My training includes experience working with international experts in adolescent brain development, executive function, ADHD, depression, and anxiety:
Postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford
Psychology residency at the University of Washington
Joint Ph.D. in Clinical and Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh
Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health
B.S. in Psychology with Distinction from Duke University
I have also been a 7th grade science teacher, providing me with insight into the unique demands and perspectives of educators.
In my free time, I enjoy biking, swimming, hiking, and going to baseball games with my husband and da
