Sharon Johnson
A licensed pediatric clinical psychologist, Dr. Johnson specializes in neuropsychological assessment of children of all ages, including high-risk infants, adopted children, and children with autism spectrum disorders.
In addition to neuropsychological assessments, Dr. Johnson participates in 604.10 (b), 604.10 (c), and Illinois Supreme Court 215 evaluations for both Lake and Cook County courts.
As a researcher, she has focused on psychosocial adjustment of children with spinal cord injuries and other chronic physical conditions. She also has been widely published and served as reviewer for the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and guest reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Psychology special issue—covering topics such as child psychotherapy research, assessment strategies, and parental influences in children with disabilities. Dr. Johnson has lectured on matters related to family law, behavioral strategies for parents, neuropsychological testing, and chronic illness.
As a mother of four, she brings a blend of proven scientific methodology and practical experience to her practice. Her philosophy: “We all have strengths and weaknesses. Our job is to understand the weaknesses and harness the strengths in order to help smooth out the bumps in the road and get the child on track for success.”
