Today, we find ourselves in a transformative phase in our world and in our lives. What we have known (our container) is fragmenting and breaking which is causing us to step into the unfamiliar and the unknown. We are noticing new and different thoughts, feelings, behaviors rising to the surface. Some are positive tapping into our strengths and others are more uncomfortable triggering unease, irritability, agitation. We are all in the midst of some form of change whether we want to be or not. We can't affect change without understanding what the problem is. Human minds can be understood. Along with this understanding is an innate desire to strive for and achieve a more satisfying life and to let go of what is not serving us. Almost all of us can benefit from reaching out to a professional for support, awareness and understanding during these challenging times.
Over the years I have observed that we are not always aware of the many factors that determine our behaviors and emotions. The current environment as well as past experiences, conscious and unconscious, interconnect to influence our present emotions and behaviors. The focus of my practice is to accept the person where they are and to utilize their unique skills, tools and modalities, both verbal and nonverbal, to uncover these unconscious motivations and to help them achieve the insight and understanding they seek. I am trained and have clinical experience as a Body/Movement Therapist (MA, 1980) and a Psychoanalyst (PsyD, 2002). I have advanced training and clinical experience in Dream Analysis (Freudian & Jungian), Couples Therapy, Object Relations Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Sandplay and Meditation. My approach to therapy is to assist in uncovering these past unconscious experiences and to help one understand the ways in which their past conflicts and hopes affect their current emotions, behaviors and relationships. The process is a mutual exploration.
