Tammy Dorff
I co-own a group practice called Strides In Psychotherapy, located in Somerset, New Jersey and founded in 2007. We are a group of five psychologists, each with our own specialty areas in psychotherapy and/or assessment. We each have different office hours, but generally include some evening and/or weekend times. We are not in-network with any insurance companies, but accept insurance on an out-of-network basis and offer a limited sliding scale when needed. Please visit our website at www.stridesinpsych.com for more information about each of us and about our company.
I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, who come to me for help with a wide variety of issues. I love the diversity of my practice! I have specialty areas in working with LGBTQ populations and with Jewish clients, and I am trained in play therapy and EMDR. I speak some Hebrew and Spanish, but not well enough to conduct therapy in these languages. I consider myself an integrationist, which means that I am trained in a variety of different approaches to therapy, and select which approach/es to use based on goodness of fit with the particular person and their presenting problems in order to best help them. In addition to my private practice, I am also actively involved on the boards of the New Jersey Psychological Association and the Middlesex County Psychological Association. Prior to starting Strides In Psychotherapy, I worked at a psychiatric emergency room for about a decade and had a part-time private practice.
I received my B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University and my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. I completed my psychology internship at The Cambridge Hospital in Massachusetts, where I was a Harvard Intern.
