About:

I am interested in helping people in transition, both within and without. I use a psychodynamic and developmental framework to assist clients in accessing their internal world in order to express the true self. Many of my clients come to me because of a divorce or child custody situation and require assistance in managing the very real trauma that can come from this process. For over twenty years, I have provided hundreds of child custody evaluations for the court in Utah. I stopped providing formal child custody evaluations and instead and have developed other, less invasive processes to help families make decisions about post separation arrangements, including the Mediation Based Custody Consultation as well as Psychologist Assisted Mediation. I also work as an Expert Witness with legal counsel to address appropriate ways to conduct both evaluations and to assess appropriate psychotherapy techniques with this speciality population. I taught over 40,000 Utahans in the Divorce Education for Parents Classes mandated by the court. I also developed the curriculum for the Divorce Education for Children program in Salt Lake City, Utah. I train judges, attorneys and mental health professionals in this population. I am an adjunct professor in the Department of Psychiatry and in Educational Psychology at the University of Utah.

Not all of my clients come from a relationship break-up situation. No matter what the antecedent, people need ways to cope with whatever life is throwing at them.
