Victoria Lavigne
I have been in private practice over 25 years working with children and their families. Prior to my independent practice, I worked on a child psychiatric inpatient unit and also developed a non-profit organization in Chicago, Tuesday's Child, that helps families whose young child has challenging behavior. My career also has included teaching child psychopathology to doctorial level students at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. My practice curently includes children with neurodevelopmental issues, such as Autism or ADHD as well as children who are anxious or who show oppositional and disruptive behavior. No matter the presenting issue, I always involve parents in the treatment process, since I see the parent-child relationship as pivotal. My goal in treatment is to alleviate the child's difficulties and help the family develop strategies to positively foster the child's continuing development.
