Dr. Yvonne Hansen is a clinical psychologist who specializes in cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, play therapy, group therapy, and family systems therapy.

She enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults. Her areas of specialty include cognitive behavioral treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and chronic pain.

Dr. Hansen received her B.A. in psychology from Douglass College, Rutgers University. Her honor’s thesis, entitled “Peers’ Perceptions of One Another in a Racially Diverse Classroom” was based on her work with Dr. Maurice Elias’ project entitled “Promoting Academic Achievement through a Social Decision making and Problem-Solving Approach to Violence Prevention and Multicultural Education.”

Dr. Hansen went on to receive her M.A. in developmental psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her master’s thesis, based on her research with Dr. Suniya Luthar, was entitled “Is There a Moderating Effect of Parental Values on the Relationship between Anxiety and Parental Attachment in Young, Affluent Adolescents?”

Dr. Hansen received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University where her research focused on her work with Dr. Linda Reddy in the area of effective and comprehensive treatment programs for young children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Dr. Hansen completed her clinical externship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY, where her clinical work focused on outpatient family therapy, play therapy with children, individual therapy with patients of all ages, inpatient treatment of adults with severe mental illness and substance abuse issues, and psychological evaluation.
