Alyson Skinner
Alyson H. (Sheehan) Skinner, PhD is a New York State Licensed Psychologist and founder of Skinner Psychological Services, PLLC. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex and/or co-occurring mental health and neurodevelopmental (Autism/Asperger's, ADD/ADHD) conditions across the lifespan. Dr. Skinner's commitment to lifelong learning is reflected by her integration of research within the scope of her clinical practice and ongoing efforts at community outreach. She has established strong relationships with numerous local organizations, professional associations, and providers across related disciplines. Dr. Skinner's work is deeply rooted in her passion for providing highly individualized interventions to foster clients' accurate self-understanding and growth to potential.
Dr. Skinner has held positions within a diverse range of medical, educational, and community-based settings throughout the past 10 years. Her initial areas of clinical concentration included family therapy, disruptive behavior management, and trauma-informed inpatient interventions for youth with severe mental illness. Dr. Skinner received her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from University at Albany, State University of New York in 2013 after completing her pre-doctoral internship at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. With particular interest in differential diagnosis and and multi-system interventions, Dr. Skinner sought to develop further understanding of the relationship between psychiatric and developmental conditions. Despite increasing prevalence of neurodevelopmental disorders and high correlation with mental health difficulties, alarmingly few treatment providers receive adequate training in identifying and addressing concurrent symptoms.
Dr. Skinner completed her post-doctoral fellowship at ASPIRE Center for Learning and Development, where she quickly advanced to leading a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and advanced trainees as Clinical Coordinat
