About:

Georgia YesmontIt has been my great pleasure to help individuals overcome life adjustment difficulties, first as a school psychologist and then as a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice. My training at New York University emphasized the internal dynamics in all of us that may become conflicted and result in unnecessary confusion and worry. My clinical training at Hofstra University offered me many cognitive-behavioral techniques that people find so useful in reducing anxiety, in controlling unwanted habits, and in developing their self-esteem. My life coaching certification gave me a structure to help people realize their goals. As a certified clinical hypnotherapist, I have learned to address many kinds of issues presented by clients, including unwanted habits, such as smoking and overeating, low self-confidence, early psychological trauma, and specific fears and concerns. Hypnotherapy can be so beneficial to the physical and psychological health of people of all ages. My training through the American Red Cross and other programs has given me crisis counseling skills to help people cope with overwhelming situations, such as the present COVID-19 epidemic. In critical situations, I have found that even short-term therapy treatment can be very beneficial to clients. People in crisis often find great comfort and validation of their feelings when speaking to a mental health professional outside their social circle, who can offer them unconditional acceptance and support. These are the qualities that I try to bring to my interactions with clients. It is extremely rewarding to see how people with genuinely challenging situations can leave a session feeling more confident, calm and clear about their new approach to managing problems. Due to social distancing restrictions presently, I am holding telehealth sessions via a very accessible on-line platform that clients have found quick and easy to use. These telehealth, virtual sessions are covered by clients' insurance plans.
