About:

Please allow me to outline the qualifications upon which, as a member of the American
Psychological Association and the Massachusetts Psychological Association, I base my services. I am
a Licensed School Psychologist (Massachusetts Licence # 253541.) I am a certified Reading teacher
and Reading Supervisor, with an M.Ed. in Reading and Learning Disabilities from Loyola (qualifying
me as a Reading Specialist under the IRA guidelines) and a doctorate in Human Development and
Psychology from Harvard (where I have been on the faculty). I have been trained at Harvard, the
Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts General Hospital to counsel individuals, to evaluate and diagnose learning disabilities and to administer psychological tests. Over the past three decades, I have so evaluated and counseled literally hundreds of individuals, about one third of whom were adults. I have taught Expository
Writing, Children’s Literature, Developmental Psychology, Criminology and Learning and Basic
Psychology at the university Level (Harvard, UMASS, Lesley, Loyola, Goddard, etc.)
I am also what is called a “known approver” for the SSATB, making judgments as to
whether or not individuals “qualify” for accommodations.
For a number of years, I taught in the public schools of Chicago, eventually rising to team leader and head of house. I am fully aware of the unfair nature of American Education.
My approach to all areas is humanistic - I try to help individuals become the best that they can be. Some descriptive words might include: calm, honest, humorous, tenacious and empathetic.
