About:

Josiah MillerI grew up in the suburbs of Denver Colorado and spent almost three years doing volunteer work after high school before deciding that I wanted to pursue the vocation of "therapist" and ultimately developed an abiding passion for psychology as a scientific discipline because of its very practical ability to help people understand and improve their lives. I studied Psychology at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012. Fall of that same year, I moved to Chicago to pursue my doctorate in clinical psychology. During my doctoral program, I fell in love with the city and people of Chicago and have since made this my home.

Most of my education and training was aimed at working with children and adolescents and thereby also developing a passion for working with couples and families. As a doctoral student, my research explored the roles of manhood and masculinity in the health and well-being of men and now specialize in helping men to find more authentic and healthy ways to understand themselves and their identities as men. In working with my clients, I do not take a one-size fits all approach to treatment and strive to meet my clients where their at and help them figure out where they want to go in their lives.

Each person has two stories, the one that is given to them and the one they get to write along the way. My job as a therapist is not to tell you how to construct your story, but rather to empower you re-write your story in a way that liberates you to live your best life. When a person finally feels able to break loose from the constraints placed on them by the institutions and people around them, it frees them up to be themselves and reach their true potential in a way that trying to live according to other people's stories can never do. Indeed being true to oneself and finding harmony with oneself is one of the most freeing of human experiences.
