Kim Havenner
I began working with children, adolescents, and their families IN 1998, providing therapy and assessment (including forensic) in ED school and residential settings, and for the DC juvenile justice and PG foster care systems.
More recently, in private practice, I have worked successfully with clients across all age groups, providing couples, family, and individual therapy. Issues have included anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and interpersonal conflict. (See Specialities above for a more comprehensive list.) I ALSO SPECIALIZE IN THE TREATMENT of trauma and dissociative disorders and have experience working with attachment and adoption trauma; combat trauma; and sexual and ritual abuse. Finally, I offer concise and comprehensive psychological evaluations and recommendations.
My commitment to continued education and ever-evolving professional expertise in general, and in the area of trauma and dissociation in particular, has continued. I believe in the healing potential of therapy and find it an extraordinary privilege to play a collaborative role.
I am continually awed by our capacity for healing and growth, and I consider it my privilege to provide a safe place for this compelling work. I am ever cognizant of the sanctity of this mission, and seek to create a therapeutic relationship grounded in mutual respect and collaboration---so that you may discover your own power to heal. "We are stronger than we know."
