Dr. Alison Haar is a child and adolescent psychologist who effectively treats children as well as adults. Naturally optimistic and enthusiastic, she helps patients overcome their challenges using a warm, supportive approach to care. Children and adolescents respond particularly well to her light hearted, joyful treatment style, and she uses age-appropriate techniques to help young people reduce the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. She is keenly aware that managing a child’s problems must extend to parent management training and collateral family work, and regularly incorporates parents and family members into treatment. Dr. Haar works with both children and adults, and has completed extensive training in child psychology. She specializes in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), trauma-focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), relaxation training, and play therapy (with children). She successfully treats children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and behavioral problems, specifically Conduct Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Additionally she has expertise in treating patients of all ages, adults and children, who suffer from trauma, phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and mood disorders, as well as adults experiencing relationship or interpersonal issues.
