About:

As a Board Certified, licensed clinical psychologist for more than 45 years, I practice individual, couples, and family therapy. In my doctoral and post-doctoral training at Rutgers University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Harvard University, and throughout my years of clinical practice, I have had extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, rational emotive therapy (RET) , cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), sex therapy, couples therapy, mindfulness, meditation, and relaxation training. I have written several books and published multiple academic articles in several of these areas. I try to empathize with client's feelings, and foster a safe, respectful, collaborative environment where real growth can occur. I can also assist in translating insight into behavioral change. My knowledge and experience with multiple treatment models help me and my clients find the most effective ways of working together. I believe it is vital to recognize the client's strengths and encourage their capacity to make the most of these strengths. I believe that focusing on strengths as opposed to pathology or weaknesses provides the best environment for achieving the goals of treatment. I believe that achieving one's goals in therapy is facilitated by hard work both inside and outside the consultation room. Essential to this change is the effort expended by both the therapist and the patient.
